Hi, I’m Theresa

“Ag is in my blood… This is my very small part in feeding American every day”

Theresa began her H2A career in March 2000.  She started as data entry, entering workers’ names into a database for a large H2A consultant.  Quickly, she moved on to recruitment running newspaper and radio ads, and then filing H2A job orders. By August 2014 she had worked her way up to H2A supervisor. She has assisted employers with hundreds of Wage & Hour investigations, CNPC audits, and filing appeals with Administrative Law Judges since her career began.

We’re All People

When the company ceased operations in August 2014 she started NAC. She began at her dining room table, with just herself, her laptop, and a cell phone. When her previous employer closed, there were several employers stuck in the middle of the process. After forming a relationship with these employers over the past 14 years, she couldn’t leave them hanging without assistance to get through their season.

When Theresa first started hiring employees, she said “I don’t know how to be a boss, but I know how not to be”. After years missing out on important events for her kids she made sure that everyone understood that their family comes before their work. Determined to make sure her children would be present for their kids events. During Covid she set up a classroom for all the grandkids to do their school work at the office, with each parent assisting when needed.

A Family-centric Business

Since 2014, NAC has grown and the staff includes three of her four daughters, and one of her best friends, Jenee. The 4th daughter lives with her husband on his family farm in SC. She assists employers with various food and safety audits. See Ag does run in the family.

Theresa grew up working on her grandfather’s farm hand harvesting vegetables, tending to and harvesting the farms chickens, cows and pigs. She then moved to a “paid position” with a nearby tobacco farm. When that farmer retired she took a public job, but still did various fill in jobs for her dad when he farmed, and for other families.

Theresa and her husband Doug have a blended family with 6 children and 6 grandchildren. She enjoys Sunday dinners with the family, riding 4 wheelers, working in her gardens, and just about anything outside. Theresa also serves as the bookkeeper at her church. When they aren’t spending time with their family, or church family, they enjoy traveling. She is often doing many DYI projects at home. She jokingly says she no longer gives her husband butterflies but she does give him anxiety when she breaks out her tool and saws.

Living the dream

When asked what her favorite part was about working at NAC Theresa said “My clients and my family. NAC has allowed me to meet some amazing people that allow us to work with them. I have made some lifelong friends whether they are my clients or not.

I get to work with my girls daily, and sometimes with my grandbabies. We understand the dynamics of owning and working with family business. Ag is in my blood, and I think it always will. This is my very small part in feeding American every day.
